Privacy Policy

Learn Animals · Last updated: 6 September 2026 · Applies to version 2.0 and later

This policy is between you and Mohibur Rahman, trading as Humble Code, the developer of Learn Animals, wherever you live. It is written in plain language so you can see what information is involved when you use the app, why, and the choices you have.

In short

  • Everything you do in the app — animals seen and heard, game scores, badges, favourites, settings — stays on your device. It is never uploaded, and we cannot see it.
  • We run no servers, no accounts and no analytics. The app’s own code sends nothing anywhere.
  • The free version shows adverts from Google AdMob. Google may collect some information to deliver and measure those adverts; that is described in full below.
  • Adverts are personalised only if you allow it. In the UK and Europe a consent message is shown before any advertising starts; everywhere, Apple’s tracking prompt asks first.
  • The one-time Premium purchase removes advertising completely. The purchase is handled by Apple; we never see your payment details.
  • Advertising is filtered by Google to a family-friendly content rating.

Who we are

Data processing in connection with the app is the responsibility of:

Mohibur Rahman, Humble Code, the developer of Learn Animals (“Humble Code”, “we” or “us”). You can contact us about this policy or anything else to do with data protection at info@humble-code.com.

Where this policy applies

This policy applies to the Learn Animals app for iPhone and iPad, which we call the “app” or the “service”. Where we say “we”, that means the controller named above together with the service providers named in this policy that help make the app available. We follow the UK Data Protection Act 2018, the UK GDPR and the EU GDPR.

Information stored on your device only

The app keeps the following on your device, and nowhere else:

  • your learning progress: which animals you have seen and heard, game results and stars, and the badges you have earned;
  • your favourites and your settings (appearance, sounds, reminders, deck order);
  • whether you have completed the welcome tour and whether you have been asked about reminders;
  • when the app was first opened and when adverts were last shown, which the app uses only to limit how often adverts appear;
  • a cached copy of whether Premium is unlocked, so the app works offline;
  • if you earn a 24-hour category pass by watching a video advert, which category it opened and when it runs out.

None of this is uploaded. We cannot see it, and deleting the app deletes it.

What we do not do

We do not ask you to create an account. We do not use analytics or crash-reporting services of our own. We do not collect your name, email address, contacts, photos, location or device identifiers. We do not sell personal information.

Advertising and your choices

The free version of Learn Animals is funded by adverts served by Google AdMob, part of Google (Google Ireland Limited for users in the UK and the European Economic Area; Google LLC elsewhere). You are always in control of how advertising works for you.

  • Personalised adverts only with your permission. Shortly after you first use the app, Apple’s App Tracking Transparency prompt asks whether the app may track you across other companies’ apps and websites. Adverts are personalised only if you tap “Allow”. If you decline, you still see adverts, but they are chosen from general context rather than from information about you.
  • Consent in the UK and Europe. If you are in the UK or the European Economic Area, a consent message is shown before any advertising begins, in line with the GDPR and Google’s EU User Consent Policy. You can review or change your choices at any time via “Ad Privacy Options” in the app’s Settings, which appears for users in those regions.
  • Change your mind at any time. You can withdraw tracking permission in your device Settings under Privacy & Security > Tracking, and adjust ad personalisation in your Google settings at adssettings.google.com.
  • Video adverts you choose to watch. Some locked categories can be opened for 24 hours by choosing to watch a video advert. That is an ordinary AdMob advert that you have asked to see; it is covered by the same choices and the same data descriptions as every other advert, and watching one changes nothing about tracking or consent.
  • Remove adverts entirely. The one-time Premium purchase permanently removes all advertising from the app. When Premium is active, the Google advertising software described below is never started, no consent or tracking prompts are shown, and none of the advertising data below is collected.

All advertising in the app is filtered by Google to a family-friendly content rating: nothing above “PG”, and no adult, gambling or similar content. Advertising is never shown during a game, and the app never plays advert sound over an animal.

Google AdMob

The app displays adverts using the Google Mobile Ads SDK. Google explains that, to deliver, measure and improve advertising, the SDK may collect:

  • IP address, which may be used to estimate the general location of a device;
  • crash logs that are not linked to you, used to diagnose problems and improve the SDK;
  • performance data such as app launch time, hang rate or energy usage;
  • a device identifier — the device’s advertising identifier (IDFA) only where you have allowed tracking, or otherwise an identifier that is limited to this app;
  • advertising data, such as which adverts you have seen and whether you interacted with them;
  • other product interactions, such as taps and video views, which may be used to improve advertising performance.

Google is responsible for how it uses this information. Its explanations are here:

  • How Google uses information from apps that use its services: policies.google.com/technologies/partner-sites
  • Google’s advertising technologies: policies.google.com/technologies/ads
  • Google’s privacy policy: policies.google.com/privacy

Measuring whether an advert led to an install

Advertisers may find out whether an advert shown in this app led someone to install their app, using Apple’s SKAdNetwork. Apple designed that system so the information is aggregated and delayed and does not identify you or your device. It works the same way whether or not you allow tracking.

The Premium purchase

“Premium — Unlock Everything” is a one-time, non-consumable in-app purchase processed by Apple. Payment happens entirely within Apple’s App Store systems under Apple’s privacy policy. We do not receive or store your name, payment details or Apple Account. Your entitlement is tied to your Apple Account, so you can restore it on any of your devices with “Restore Purchases” in the app’s Settings or on the Premium screen. The app keeps only a local yes/no record of whether Premium is unlocked.

Reminders

The app can send optional reminders containing an animal fact. They are off unless you turn them on, and the app asks you only once. Every reminder is composed entirely on your device from the facts built into the app. No server is involved and nothing leaves your device. You can change the time and frequency, or turn reminders off, under “Reminders” in the app’s Settings and in your device Settings.

Children

Learn Animals is a general-audience app enjoyed by families. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children ourselves; all learning progress stays on the device. Advertising is restricted to family-friendly content ratings, and personalised advertising operates only after an explicit opt-in through the system prompts described above. Parents who prefer an entirely advert-free experience can use the one-time Premium purchase, which switches all advertising technology in the app off.

If you contact us

If you email us, we use what you send only to answer you. It is never used for advertising, and we keep it only for as long as needed to help you.

Downloading the app

Apple collects information when you download or update the app from the App Store, such as your Apple Account details and the time of download. We have no influence over that and do not receive it. It is governed by Apple’s privacy policy: apple.com/legal/privacy.

Why we use information

  • to provide the app to you and keep it working reliably;
  • to fund the free version of the app through advertising, as described above;
  • to respond to you if you contact us;
  • to comply with the law and to establish, exercise or defend legal rights.

Legal bases (Article 6 UK GDPR / GDPR)

  • Consent — personalised advertising runs only on the basis of your consent, given through the App Tracking Transparency prompt and, in the UK and EEA, the consent message. You can withdraw consent at any time as described above. Processing carried out before withdrawal remains lawful.
  • Contract — where processing is necessary to deliver something you have asked for, such as the Premium purchase.
  • Legitimate interests — for the basic operation, security and improvement of the app, including non-personalised advertising, which funds the free version.

How information is shared

We do not sell information that directly identifies you. Advertising data is processed by Google and its certified advertising partners as described in Google’s policies linked above. We may disclose information if reasonably necessary to comply with a legal process, to assist in the prevention or detection of crime, or to protect the safety of any person.

International transfers

Google may process advertising data in the United States and other countries outside the UK and the EEA. Google states that it relies on safeguards recognised under UK and EU law for those transfers, including the EU-U.S. Data Privacy Framework with its UK Extension and standard contractual clauses. We have no influence over that processing. We ourselves transfer no data anywhere, because we hold none.

How long information is kept

We keep nothing beyond any correspondence you send us, which we delete once your query is resolved and any follow-up is complete. Information collected by Google is kept in accordance with Google’s retention policies: policies.google.com/technologies/retention.

Your rights

Under Articles 15 to 22 of the UK GDPR and GDPR you have the right to access, rectify and erase your personal data, to restrict or object to its processing, and to data portability. Because we hold no personal data about you beyond any email you send us, most requests will be answered by confirming exactly that. For data held by Google, you can exercise your rights directly through your Google settings and Google’s privacy policy.

You also have the right to lodge a complaint with a data protection supervisory authority. For us that is the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO), ico.org.uk. We would appreciate the chance to resolve any concern first, so please contact us before approaching the ICO.

Security

Because your data never leaves your device, it is protected by your device’s own security: your passcode, Face ID or Touch ID, and Apple’s encryption. Advertising data is protected in transit by standard HTTPS encryption.

Uninstalling

Uninstalling the app in the usual way deletes everything it has stored on your device and stops all advertising immediately.

Automated decision-making

We do not use automated decision-making or profiling that produces legal or similarly significant effects concerning you.

Changes to this policy

We will update this policy whenever a change to the app makes it necessary, for instance a change to how advertising or purchases work, and we will show the new date at the top. Please check it from time to time.

Questions and complaints

Please direct any questions or comments about this policy to info@humble-code.com. If you believe we have acted otherwise than as described here, please tell us.
